Public Warning - Do not deal with MHD Holdings Pty Ltd trading as Pacific Fencing Solutions or Director Matthew Geoffrey Rixon

NSW Fair Trading Acting Commissioner Peter Dunphy has issued a public warning urging customers not to deal with MHD Holdings Pty Ltd, trading as Pacific Fencing Solutions or its director Matthew Geoffrey Rixon who often operates under aliases Matthew or Matt Douglas.

“Mr Rixon has not held a valid licence since 2010 and has already been fined over $140,000 for offences relating to the residential building work he has undertaken. On 2 March 2018 he was sentenced by the NSW Supreme Court to 18 months in prison commencing 14 February 2018 for contempt of court, after breaching an injunction prohibiting him from being involved in residential building work in any capacity in NSW. He remains the subject of the injunction.” Mr Dunphy said.

Information available to Fair Trading indicates that in 2019 Pacific Fencing Solutions may have advertised online and in newspapers and allegedly entered into contracts with consumers agreeing to perform fencing work in exchange for payment of a deposit, following which the agreed work was not completed and the deposits were not refunded.

“Consumers coming to Fair Trading with information or complaints are of huge assistance to our ongoing investigations.,” Mr Dunphy said.

This Public Warning is the fourth time Fair Trading has advised consumers not to deal with Mr Rixon.

“It is vital that consumers do not pay a deposit before they have met a trader and should carefully review and compare any quote for work. People are also reminded to check the license of their tradie, prior to entering into an agreement. It only takes a few minutes and could save people hundreds or thousands of dollars,” Mr Dunphy said.
