Consumers not entertained by Sydney event in June Complaints Register
A recent event held at a popular retail and entertainment venue in the inner-city of Sydney has received the largest number of complaints for June on the NSW Fair Trading Complaints Register.
NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rose Webb said Carriageworks received 37 complaints in June from customers who were left unsatisfied by the quality of service provided at a one-night event.
“Our advice to businesses appearing on the Complaints Register for the first time is to work with their assigned Fair Trading case manager and address the issues that may have affected customers.
“In the past financial year, more than 64,000 people have visited the Complaints Register online, a tool that can be used to make more informed purchasing choices. We encourage businesses to recognise and review any issues that have affected customers and to try to resolve these issues with their customers,” Ms Webb said.
Real estate business Richardson & Wrench also joined the Register for the first time after twelve customers - predominantly tenants - complained about rent and charges, repairs and maintenance, service of notices and conduct.
“Complaints about the real estate business came from a number of locations ranging from Bella Vista in Sydney’s North-West, down to Dapto South of Sydney. It is therefore vital that customer service messaging feeds down throughout the agencies from Head Office,” Ms Webb said.
Electrical retailers including Harvey Norman, Apple, Kogan and Samsung Electronics filled out the top end of the Register again, receiving upward of 20 complaints each.
“So far this year, there has been an average of 17 businesses a month that have appeared on the Complaints Register as a result of receiving 10 or more complaints. We are glad to see only 12 businesses appear on this month’s list,” Ms Webb said.
