Acknowledgement and welcome to country
An Acknowledgment of Country recognises that the gathering is on Aboriginal land; pays respect to Traditional Custodians, particularly Elders past, present and future, and to Aboriginal people in attendance.
It is especially appropriate to deliver one at significant / large meetings.
It is usually delivered as part of a welcome.
The words to deliver an acknowledgement of Country
I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet and pay respects to their elders past, present and future. I would like to extend that respect to Aboriginal peoples present today.
